Muhammad Yunus the 70 year old Bangladeshi economist and recipient of the Nobel Prize for Peace Lending small amounts of money to the poor (March 9 2011)

Muhammad Yunus the 70 year old Bangladeshi economist and recipient of the Nobel Prize for Peace for his microfinancing work as the founder of the Grameen Bank has had his services terminated by the bank on the pretext he has past retirement age. However his termination has been at the behest of the Bangladeshi government, which had for months been maneuvering to remove him following his attempt to establish a new political party in opposition to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The Bangladeshi government owns 25% of the bank, but used its central bank to dismiss him now claiming that his appointment had not received prior approval by the central bank.Yunus has refused to accept the termination and vowed to fight his case through the courts.
