Intercession projects take the form of street & public place interventions to combine politics and art. Interventions into various locations comprising a combination of projected intermittent video work, and randomly located objects, that juxtapose to the surrounding external environment.
Intercession as politics and art is a developmental project, which seeks to strategically intervene and engage with the community stakeholders who frequent the locality. Intercession’s quest, is to encourage a reconsideration of the aesthetics to their built environment, from a street art perspective. The work is premised on the assumption that Street Art, to the broader community is generally perceived negatively, likely as a result of the ill will attached to non-artistic street taggers.
The projections are undertaken during evening hours, onto selected animated or static surfaces (not necessarily vertical). The randomly placed objects comprise a variety of painted remnants and mixed media to reference politics and art. Each transcribed with text, referencing quotations from various prominent Street Artists. The pieces are installed into secluded yet visible locations, and loosely fixed to walls and other surfaces with appropriate permissions. The work is documented at intervals throughout.
The work is a collaboration of three artists, Ian Bunn, Harold Bernhardt and Will Carter.
